Time range: January 2023 – July 2024
The main objectives of PR4 are developing facilitating methodologies and tools for supporting students in implementing e-SL projects and training teachers in deploying them successfully. An Innovative Framework and Methodology (IFM) for trainers to support the students in the execution of the e-SL projects, clearly identifying objectives, activities, assignments, and including a strong reflective component, will be developed.
PR4/A1: Development of facilitation methodology (January 2023 – June 2023)
- The partners were developed a Facilitation Methodology for e-Service Learning in Higher Education, which is intended to encourage and support universities to adopt flexible, creative, and customized approaches to conducting e-SL projects and courses.
- The document serves as a guide for effectively integrating e-service-learning initiatives into higher education curriculum. It provides strategic insights, methods, and tools aimed at teachers and learning designers who are keen to foster a more engaged, community-focused learning environment through electronic means.
- The Facilitation Methodology is addressed for a wide array of educational stakeholders in higher education, including but not limited to administrators, faculty members, and learning designers.
PR4/A2: Preparation of digital reporting tools for students for keeping track of the activities performed (July 2023 – August 2023)
- The partners were developed a Digital Toolkit for e-SL integration in Higher Education which offers a practical advice on tech use, student autonomy and crafting authentic learning experiences. The Guide include: A guided roadmap with concrete examples of strategic objectives, impacts, outcomes, outputs and activities to lay the groundwork for e-SL integration at the strategic level; A guided learning design canvas for the integration of e-SL into study programmes and courses; and a collection of cards presenting learning activities for each stage of e-SL.
PR4/A3: Development of eService-Learning Facilitator’s Guide and summative e-learning modules for trainers (September 2023 – October 2023)
- The project partners will prepare a video guide for the HE teachers (eService-Learning Facilitator’s Guide and summative e-learning modules) and will supervise the HE teachers, to collect direct information for the revision of the materials. It will comprise 5 modules: A) Service-Learning Design for Impact; B) Coaching for successful SL Projects; C) Pitching and Project Valorization; D) Assessing Service-Learning Gains; E) Tools for Supporting Service-Learning. Case in point: Communities of Practice.
- To support teachers in eService-Learning facilitation, the Service-Learning Facilitator’s Guide will be developed and will be tested on a sample of teachers.
- The project partners will prepare training materials for the HE teachers (eService-Learning facilitator’s Guide and summative e-learning modules) and will supervise the HE teachers, to collect direct information for the revision of the materials.
PR4/A4: Piloting of the methodology and tools (November 2023 – April 2024)
- The piloting process will involve trainers which will be supported by the university. UPB will design an analysis grid to be used by the supervisors. The piloting starts off with an online training on SL. Next, through online synchronous and asynchronous activities, the students will work on their projects in an online environment facilitated by the trainers. During coaching sessions, the students will be groomed for optimum performance in their e-SL project implementation. The teams will present their project in a joint session. To discuss the challenges and achievements, UPB will organize a focus group. All the partners will participate.
