From August 18 to 24, 2025, academic staff and students of the Faculty of Theology of the University of Silesia in Katowice took part in the 22nd International Service-Learning Week in Buenos Aires.
The program of the event included a symposium, an international conference, as well as training sessions and workshops devoted to the method of learning through engagement.
The study visit was organized at the invitation of the Centro Latinoamericano de Aprendizaje y Servicio Solidario (CLAYSS) within the framework of the PROM project, funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA). Meetings and activities took place, among others, at the Universidad del Salvador, Universidad de Buenos Aires, and Universidad Católica Argentina. Delegations from several universities in Europe, as well as from the Americas, Africa, Asia, Australia, and Oceania participated in the event.
The Faculty of Theology was represented by:
- Rev. Assoc. Prof. Dawid Ledwoń, PhD, Deputy Director of the Institute of Theological Sciences, who delivered a paper entitled The e-SL4EU Project: Digital Service-Learning for Inclusive Higher Education. Institutional Programmes Based on Service-Learning and presented a poster.
- Students: Jadwiga Gorol, Joanna Susek, Daniel Kołodziejczyk, and Bartosz Dryja-Gołębiowski.
The event was also attended by Rev. Wojciech Surmiak, PhD, Vice-Dean for Student Affairs and Education, within the framework of the UNISERVITATE program, in which the University of Silesia in Katowice has been involved since 2024.
